Stupid Commenter Beatdown - The Story of a Boy and His Pom Poms

Can't Carry Your Pom Poms With a Broken Arm Son.
Programming Note - Now that we're (gainfully?) employed we're trying to reconfigure out schedule to allow us sufficient time to protect our blogging rep (whatever that might be) so we're sorry for the sporadic posting this week.  Thanks for reading and, if you haven't already, become a follower (see right margin) if only to make us feel good about ourselves.  Now on to your regularly scheduled blog.

Bullying is so HOT right now - the great state of New Jersey is apparently about to pass a “Bullying Bill of Rights” or something like that – so continuing our the bullying theme, we bring you a story about a little boy and his pom poms.

An Ohio mom is disappointed that her son's school didn't do more to stop at least two boys who allegedly picked on her 11-year-old cheerleader son until the bullies beat him so bad they broke his arm.

Funny, we would have thought the mom would have been disappointed in her son for being a cheerleader. Either way, what goes unreported here is that his arm was actually broken when he attempted to lift all three boys over his head in an inverted pyramid move. An 11-year-old’s bones just can’t handle a feat of strength like that.

She says the beating didn't break his spirit however. Tyler Wilson has vowed to continue cheering with hopes it helps him get into college some day.

T-Y-L-E-R, you don’t let those bullies break your spirit. YOUR, YOUR, YOUR SPIRIT!!

"I'm going to keep going. I'm going to make a lifestyle out of it," Tyler told ABC News affiliate WTVG.

An alternative lifestyle?

"The first thing I wanted to make sure of, when he said he was going to join cheerleading, that he understood the possibility was there that he would get teased and made fun of and he was ok dealing with it," Tyler's mom told ABC News today. She says Tyler was okay with that and wanted to join the squad regardless. His love for gymnastics and tumbling made him a natural fit according to Kristy Wilson.

His love of not having any friends and being made fun of also made him a natural fit.

Things were going fine for Tyler, she said, until some of his middle school classmates spotted him cheering the day before school started.

Ruh-roh.

Several small skirmishes broke out between Tyler and the two boys, according to the police report, and eventually one of the boys allegedly picked Tyler up and slammed him on the ground, breaking his arm.

That boy was immediately signed up to replace the injured Tyler. (ALLEGEDLY!!)

Lt. Charles Wilson, of the Findlay Police Department told ABC News that both boys involved in the fight have been charged in youth court.

“Youth Court” coming this fall to the WB, follows former NYC judge Harry T. Stone and his trusty bailiff Nostradamus "Bull" Shannon as they try to revive their careers in the wake of the scandal surrounding a sexual harassment suit by a former public defender against the head prosecutor. Special Guest Appearance by Markie Post.

"Glenwood Middle School has taken steps to help resolve the situation between the boys. Any kind of bullying -- physical, cyber, we're constantly trying to help students work through these situations or prevent these situations," Kupferberg said.

Translation: “We’re constantly taking steps to resolve situations except when they involve pansy cheerleaders. Join the football team, you can’t carry your pom poms with a broken arm, son.”

"It's an unfortunate incident and I hope, as the schools are trying to help, and I expect that they are, that the midget football and cheerleading are also taking steps," Kupferberg said.

Um...it’s “Dwarf” or “Little People” football. Que Insensitivo!

She said her son will cheer against the team the boy plays for on Oct. 10. "In the last game of season my son is cheering against his team. Tyler plans on showing up, and the cheer parents volunteered to act as a security detail," Wilson said.

That’ll show em. Cheer your little heart out while surrounded by a protective circle of adults. Very inspiring (isn’t that how Rudy ended?).

He is still participating with the cheerleading squad as much as he can, but his arm and spirit need time to mend.

We thought his spirit was intact? His entire existence as a cheerperson depends on maintaining said spirit. Get your facts straight madam.

Let’s see what our commenters can add to this tale of triumph.

There are lots of male cheerleaders out there, going to great colleges on huge scholarships! There are lots of male olympic gymnasts out there too with major endorsements ...

Everyone knows you don’t be a cheerleader for the love of the splits or to develop incredible push strength (seriously those dudes could push over an elephant, just don’t ask them to start a lawnmower – the strength only goes one way), You do it for the money. Think of the endorsement potential you have, if you win an Olympic metal or perhaps even go pro. We see guys from the Professional Cheerleader League (“PCL”) on TV all the time hawking everything from the $1.99 Lunch Deal at the Bagel Barn to the Porno Shack’s Early Bird Special.

From some of the posts by people who claim to know this kid, it looks like the news machine has jumped the gun again to go with the slant on the story that will generate the most sympathy for th "victim". Remember that story of the Irish teen in the Boston area. They didnt want to report on the girls sexuality or her documented mental health problems. This kid here might not be the poster boy for bullying that the network wants, You might have to do some better investigative journalism.

Damn the media for making the 11 year old with a broken arm look like the “victim.” Rotten sons of bitches!! We not aware of the reference Mr. Fragglerock (if that is your real name) what exactly are you trying to insinuate? Everyone needs to know this child’s deep dark secrets.

All people everywhere need to know that the answer to protecting your children from bullying is to enroll your children into a martial arts program where they can learn how to protect themselves. You cant blame the schools or the teachers due to that is not their job to police every kid every time and every where.Take responsibility for your own children and give them gift of being confident to be able to handle any situation that might arise in their life.DO IT! You and your children will sleep better at night knowing that they can defend themselves in any situation PERIOD. Thank You,Rick Watts a U.S Martial Arts Instructo

Very clever attempt to disguise your advertisement but we’re on to you Mr. Miyagi.

Keep cheering, Tyler! My oldest boy has been dancing classical ballet for years, and has Nutcracker aspirations. He has tried jazz, modern and tap, but classical has his heart. He hasn't always gotten the "cool" parts either- bowel of porridge in Goldilocks ...

Well, it all depends on which bowl of porridge was, as we recall, one was actually actually quite cool.

And this year he is a "baby mouse" ...

Yeah, ok, that role sucks.

He gets teased at school- we live in the south were hunting and football are king. Last year, he decided to combat the teasing. He decide the boys didn't know about ballet and the importance of the male roles. At his "show and tell" he presented on dance and famous male dancers. I believe he took his shoes into class along with a picture book. Do they still tease him- yes. But he still dances and is on scholarship...at the age of 8. He will probably have many years of being the only boy in ballet class. I hope boys like you keep following your passion. Best of luck, Tyler.

What exactly is the moral of this story, that life is nothing ike an episode of “Saved By the Bell?”

SORRY TO HEAR ANOTHER CHILD HAS BEEN HURT, I HAVE A 7 YEAR OLD SON AND HAD TO TAKE HIM OUT OF HIS GYM CLASS TO PROTECT HIM. YES HE HAS BEEN STABED 2 TIMES. ITS SAD WHEN A CHILD HAS TO LOSE TIME IN THE CLASSES HE NEEDS BUT SHORT OF TAKEING HIM OUT OF SCHOOL, YOUR NOT GIVEN MANY CHOICES TO PROTECT YOUR KIDS. AND UNTIL THE PARENTS OF BULLYS ARE HELD FOR THE ACTIONS OF THERE CHILDREN ITS GOING TO KEEP HAPPENING. AND SOME STATES WONT FILE CHARGES FOR ASSAULT WHEN THERE A CHILD, SO I WISH ALL PARENTS LUCK

Just curious, if twice before age 7 isn’t enough, what’s exactly is the stabbing threshold for you before you take him out of school?

Anyone remember that video from "America's Funniest Videos" of the little boy who was made to wait on his sister, day after day, in her dance class to the point that he had memorized the steps? He was off in the corner doing all the steps, and better than some of the girls. He had no idea he was being recorded, so he was really into it -- doing his thing! Tyler reminds me of that little boy! Keep cheering Tyler!

No.

And finally, a man so secure in his manliness that he feels the need to remind you every 3 words.
